Creati nel lontano 1973 da Donald A. Reed per ovviare alla mancanza di premi dedicati al cinema, e successivamente estesi alle serie e Home video, di genere horror, fantascienza e fantasy, anche quest’anno sono arrivate le nomination per la 46° edizione dei Saturn Awards i quali, a causa della pandemia, hanno ampliato il periodo di ammissibilità dal 15 luglio 2019 al 15 novembre 2020, includendo anche quei titoli che sono stati costretti al debutto solo in streaming.

Ad una prima occhiata, è evidente che a trionfare in queste nomination ai Saturn Awards è Star Wars IX L’ascesa di Skywalker (leggi qui la recensione) di J. J. Abrams con dodici candidature, ma a breve distanza troviamo Tenet di Christopher Nolan con nove, Doctor Sleep di Mike Flanagan con otto, ma non mancano film protagonisti agli Oscar come Joker di Todd Phillips, Parasite di Bong Joon-ho, 1917 diretto da Sam Mendes e molti altri.
