Il 1 Febbraio si è tenuta la premiazione della 72a edizione dei Writers Guild Awards, i premi del potente sindacato degli sceneggiatori americani. Bong Joon-Ho e Han Jin Won nella categoria della sceneggiatura originale hanno vinto con Parasite, mentre in quella della sceneggiatura adattata ha prevalso Taika Waititi con Jojo Rabbit. Contro ogni previsione i protagonisti della serata sono stati i due film con 6 candidature agli Oscar. I bookmakers, infatti, puntavano sulla vittoria di 1917 per la sceneggiatura originale e di Piccole Donne per la sceneggiatura adattata.
La vittoria ai Writers Guild Awards non è per forza sinonimo di vittoria agli Oscar. Nel 2019, Eighth Grade e Copia Originale conquistarono a sorpresa i WGA, ma Green Book, per la sceneggiatura originale, e BlaKkKlansman, per la sceneggiatura adattata, ottennero le famose statuette. Inoltre, ricordiamo che le votazioni per gli Oscar sono terminate da qualche giorno e l’annuncio della vittoria dei premi degli sceneggiatori non influirà sugli esiti della premiazione dei prossimi giorni. Tuttavia potrebbe indicarci su quale film si orienti la parte dell’Academy formata dagli sceneggiatori.
Inoltre, per il piccolo schermo trionfa la fantastica Watchmen nella categoria nuove serie. Dopo i Golden Globe, Succession e Chernobyl vincono anche i Writers Guild Awards. Ora vediamo tutti i vincitori.
